Factors that Promote Premature Aging

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Cosmetic companies are cashing in on women’s desire to stay youthful longer. Magic potions, creams, and treatments fill shelves for women who wish to remove wrinkles and any signs of aging. However, what most women don’t understand is that while very few of these creams may be a temporary solution to their problem, there are other more cost-free approaches that they can take to fight against premature again and help keep themselves looking younger for longer.

Aging Due to the Sun

Around 75% of skin aging is due to over exposure to the sun. For those who spend enormous amounts of time in the sun – either working or sun bathing – their skin may not immediately reflect the damage that is being caused, however, down the road, sun damage begins to take its toll. If you are one of the many women who enjoys sunbathing or tanning, it’s important that you use a strong sun screen. For those whose job requires them to be outdoors for a greater part of the day, the same advice applies as well. A good sun screen should be used regularly according to the instructions given.

Aging Due to Inadequate Rest

It’s important that every woman get enough rest. Women who get on average, six hours of sleep per night, will age quicker than a woman who gets the recommended eight hours.
Have you noticed that when you don’t get the proper amount of sleep, you begin to see bags appear under your eyes? You don’t need fancy eye creams and gels in order to remove these bags, but simply a good night’s rest in order to wake up feeling fresh and healthy.

Aging Due to Stress

Have you ever looked at someone and thought to yourself: “Wow, it looks as if she has had a hard life!” These individuals tend to look much older than they actually are. Unfortunately, more often than not, they are usually years younger than you pegged them to be. The reason behind their “hard” look is due in part to leading a stressful live. Stress can, and will, age your skin very fast. What we therefore need to do is attempt to lead a life that is as stress-free as we possibly can. While this may not be as easy as said, we must find a way to think in a more positive and pro-active way to avoid the fine lines and wrinkles contributed from stress.

Aging Due to Smoking

Smoking cigarettes will certainly speed up the aging process. Even though quitting may not be as easy as it sounds, it is a must if you wish to delay the premature aging process. Of course there are many other reasons to stop smoking, however, understand that it wrecks havoc on your skin.
